What This Fabric Is

A nonwoven sheet functionalized with curcumin, the yellow pigment extracted from turmeric root. The colour of the sheet comes from the curcumin itself, so a brand gets the turmeric story and the turmeric look from one material instead of adding a dye on top of an extract.

Curcumin is a pigment first and a marketing ingredient second. That order matters: it is light-sensitive, it is not fully water-fast, and it will migrate into a watery serum over time. Handled correctly it produces one of the most recognisable sheets on a shelf. Handled carelessly it produces a sheet that fades in the pouch and a complaint three months after launch. The notes below are the difference between the two.

• Colour without a separate dye. The warm yellow is intrinsic to the material, which keeps the ingredient list shorter and the story cleaner.
• Immediate shelf recognition. Yellow reads as turmeric and as 'brightening' across Asian beauty markets without a single word of copy.

Formulation and Handling Notes

• Light is the main risk. Specify an opaque or amber pouch, or a metallised film. A clear pouch will show fading within weeks under retail lighting.
• Run a four-week stability test before you commit to a serum. Curcumin migrates into water-based formulas; the sheet lightens and the serum shifts toward yellow. If your serum is meant to stay clear, test it rather than assume.
• Expect lot-to-lot variation. A natural extract is not a Pantone chip. Approve a range, not a single sample, or you will reject good production.
• Clean the line between runs. The pigment marks light-coloured rollers and fabrics. A short purge after a curcumin run saves a much longer cleanup later.

FAQ

Does the colour come from turmeric or from a dye?

From curcumin, the pigment in turmeric root. There is no separate dyestuff added to achieve the yellow.

Will it tint the skin?

On normal skin, no — it rinses clean. On very dry or compromised skin a faint warm tint can remain for a few minutes. If your user base includes sensitive or post-procedure skin, test on panelists before launch.

Can we match an exact yellow?

We match to a lab dip as closely as a natural extract allows, and we agree a tolerance range in writing. Promising an exact match on a botanical pigment is a promise nobody can keep in production.
