What This Fabric Is

A woven cotton gauze sheet infused with Centella Asiatica extract. It is not a nonwoven, and that is the whole point: gauze is woven from continuous yarn, so it does not shed fibre the way a hydroentangled web can, and it holds its shape when wet and handled with gloves.

Centella — cica — is the ingredient most associated with calming and post-procedure care in Korean and Thai skincare. Putting it into a gauze carrier rather than a nonwoven moves the product out of the retail mask category and into the clinic and professional channel, where the buyer cares more about handling behaviour than about cost per sheet.

Why Brands Specify Gauze

• No lint. A woven structure does not release loose fibre onto skin or into an open treatment area. This is the single most common reason clinics refuse nonwoven.
• Wet strength. Gauze can be lifted, repositioned, and pressed without stretching out of shape — useful when a therapist is working over it.
• Familiar to professionals. Aestheticians already handle gauze daily. There is no training cost and no learning curve at the treatment bed.
• Reads as clinical. The visible weave signals a professional product, which supports a higher price in the clinic channel.

Handling and Formulation Notes

• Gauze does not cling the way nonwoven does. It will slide on a thin, watery serum. Give the formula a little body, or accept that the therapist will need to reposition it.
• Wet-out is slower. The woven structure wets from the outside in. Allow a longer soak, and test the actual time on your filling line rather than assuming it matches your nonwoven SKU.
• Cut openings need more allowance. Gauze has almost no stretch, so an eye hole sized for a stretchy nonwoven will tear at the corners. Send us the drawing and we will adjust the die.
• 'Medical-grade' is a substrate description, not a product classification. How your finished mask is classified — cosmetic, medical device, or otherwise — depends on the claims you make and the market you sell into. Confirm that locally before printing anything.

FAQ

Is the sheet sterile?

No. It is supplied non-sterile. If your channel needs a sterile product, sterilisation is done after filling by a licensed facility in your market — we can supply the substrate to the specification that process requires.

Is it disposable?

It is a single-use substrate, like any mask sheet. Gauze is not designed to be washed and reused in a clinical setting.

Can you supply it pre-soaked?

We supply the dry sheet. Filling and pouching are done by your contract manufacturer or by arrangement — tell us your format and we will quote the cut accordingly.
